Is that your hot rod? This is definitely the best self portrait any artist could have done. Sometimes I get tired of traditional self portrait. You kicked ass in this one!
Thanks Doug......actually, the rod belongs to both my father and I. We built it about 4 years ago after his '55 Olds was rear ended. Since that car would have cost an arm and a leg to repair and restore, we figured a traditional hot rod was the best bang for the buck. We ended up pulling the block, tranny, rear end, brakes, wheels and some interior from the Olds and transplanting 'em into this 5 window. Saved ourselves a ton of dough and we still got a bitchin ride out of it! I also recently bought an old T-bucket body that we might just build into a late 40's-era boulevard screamer. We'll see.
Damn, another cool piece. Man... and that's a nice ride you got there, I'm still borrow my dad car just go out on dates. I like the angle you choose to do your portrait, it different. Who takes your photo reference for you, he or she got good eye?
Thanks Allen.... Actually, I take all my own reference shots. For this painting, I set up a camera and tripod and just set the timer. Believe it or not, the wheel and tire are painted from life. I decided to finish it using the reference because there were too many gnats stickin to the paint while I was workin on it outside. Damn bugs!
Below we have compiled a list of 101 tips to help you improve your photography. You may know some of them already but were confident that you'll find at least a few gems in there! Go get yourself a cup of coffee and make sure you are sitting comfortably!

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
